Naruk Kenya leader Martha Karua has urged Wiper Party's Kalonzo Musyoka to focus on his own campaign and leave it to the voters to decide on Azimio's presidential candidacy.
Her remarks came after Kalonzo was quoted in a local daily as saying that Kahlua lacked the necessary qualifications to run for president.
“My unsolicited advice to my brother Kalonzo Musyoka is to focus on promoting yourself and let the voters decide who is best,” Karua wrote in a post on X.
This is not the first time the two men have publicly disagreed over who should succeed Raila Odinga if he is appointed president of the African Union.
Musyoka has become increasingly powerful as the voice and face of the coalition, challenging government policies, even as he holds rallies to promote his presidential candidacy.
He has also been a vocal critic of Mr Karua's moves, including the formation of Kamwene, a political group of opposition Mount Kenya leaders.
Meanwhile, Karua maintains that despite his absence from Azimio meetings and political rallies, he remains a member of Azimio and is equally qualified to replace Raila Odinga.
They are not the only ones trying to take the mantle from Odinga.
Other candidates, including former Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, have also announced their intention to become the next opposition leader.
Odinga's impending departure is opening up the playing field for his coalition, Azimio, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, and his backyard in Nyanza.
However, he has remained silent and has yet to endorse anyone for any position.
