sony and team ninja Rise of Ronin We're launching a PlayStation 5 exclusive on Friday. Koei Tecmo, Team Ninja's parent company, has big goals for future games, with his sales goal of 5 million copies.
Rise of the Ronin's sales goal is 5 million copies
Koei Tecmo expressed this goal in a recent post explaining the company's short-term and long-term goals and strategy. Under the heading “Priority Goals,'' “5 million packaged games (new IP)'' is listed. Rise of the Ronin is not mentioned in this statement, but it is the only upcoming game from Koei Tecmo Studio that fits that description.
AAA games from established franchises typically sell tens of millions of copies, but 5 million is a pretty ambitious number for Team Ninja. The studio's previous work, Wo Long: Fallen Nursing, sold approximately 1 million copies as of April 2023. Meanwhile, according to Koei Tecmo, “Nioh'' sold approximately 2.5 million copies, and the entire Ninja Gaiden series sold approximately 6.8 million copies. So, although not impossible, selling that many copies would be a huge accomplishment for the studio. Still, it at least suggests that Koei Tecmo has a lot of faith in Rise of the Ronin.
Rise of the Ronin transports players to Japan in 1863. Players explore the end of the Edo period from the perspective of a ronin and shape their own destiny through a dynamic story. They wield a variety of weapons, from swords to revolvers, and explore cities such as Kyoto, Yokohama, and Edo (now Tokyo). PS5 users can pre-order the Standard Edition for $69.99 and the Deluxe Edition for $79.99.
