Jordan Sherman, a Gladbrook native and 2020 GR graduate, officially joined the staff of The Times Republican and Tama Grundy this week as a marketing executive, excited to get started in a field she's already familiar with. are doing.
Sherman returned to her hometown after graduating from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, and her boyfriend took a job at Bergen Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Company in Waterloo. Everything went well as her parents were happy to welcome them back while they saved money to buy their own home.
She saw an advertisement for the position in the newspaper and explored various possible opportunities, but was convinced that publisher Terry Christensen actively hired college graduates and provided her with the training she needed to succeed. He said he was excited about what he would do.
“He was very adamant about it and made me feel wanted, so that's kind of why I made the decision to accept the position here,” Sherman said. said.
Christensen feels Sherman is a great addition to the staff.
“We are excited to have Jordan join our team. She has a great personality and work ethic and will be welcomed by our business partners,” he said.
I studied public relations in college, decided to take a 400 level sales course as a sophomore, and worked in retail sales at Buckle in Storm Lake, which I really enjoyed.
“From there I got to dig deeper into things like sales and the concepts that go with it and get more hands-on experience with professionals and BVU alumni,” she said.
Sherman will be visiting business owners in Marshall, Tama and Grundy counties in his new role, and is excited to get started in earnest. Although she is working to reintroduce herself after spending several years at university, she is excited to rejoin the community of Gladbrook as well as the wider region as a whole. Masu.
