New businesses are popping up one after another along the Answer, where Albuquerque and Rio Rancho meet.
RIO RANCHO, N.M. — New businesses are popping up along the Unser, where Albuquerque and Rio Rancho meet.
On the Albuquerque side, Chicken Salad Chick is scheduled to open in April on the southwest corner of Answer and McMahon. It's just one of several businesses opening on that corner.
If you keep driving to Rio Rancho, you'll see a lot of dirt just north of Presbyterian Rust Medical Center. The Village, a new shopping center, will house an upscale grocery store called Market Street, operated by Albertsons.
Construction was scheduled to begin in 2022, but construction was delayed due to the pandemic. Owners now say they are aiming to open early next year.
Rio Rancho residents will soon no longer have to travel to Albuquerque to find a furniture store, as Furniture Row is also scheduled to open in The Village.
If the furniture market isn't your thing, more retail stores are planned across the intersection south of M'tucci's. The leasing agent told KOB 4 they hope to break ground on up to 8,000 square feet of retail space by the end of this year.
Although he cannot say exactly what to expect in this area, he says both national and local companies have expressed interest. There will also be a drive-thru.
As the area continues to grow, there are plans to expand both Ansell and Paseo del Norte. According to the city's website, the first phase of the project will expand Paseo to four lanes from Interstate 25 to Unser, and from Paseo to Unser just past Northern on Rio Rancho. Construction on the project could begin in early 2025.
