After grabbing attention with his unique pitch on Shark Tank India Season 2, GD Prasad, founder of coffee brand VS Mani & Co., approached Indian Railways with an even more unique pitch. In a recent appeal, a Bengaluru-based entrepreneur has asked the railway ministry to include South Indian brands in the region's Vande Bharat Railway. In a post shared on his personal X handle, Prasad, while praising Indian Railways for the services provided by India's Vande Bharat trains, also offered filter coffee and other South Indian snacks to passengers. Then he offered.
“We are happy with our world-class Vande Bharat from the South. Please request our support with more regional brands appearing on our snack trays. When you get the chance, we offer filter coffee and South Indian snacks. We are happy to provide the same,” GD Prasad wrote, referring to the Ministry of Railways, PMO of India and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnau.
He also shared photos of snack trays that are already being provided on trains. The tray contained a variety of items including bhujia, masala chai, tetra packs of juice, and peanut chiki. In response to the post, many users were enthusiastic, supporting his proposal and requesting to drink filter coffee on the train. One user wrote, “Hope you finally make us feel at home in Vande Bharat with your delicious #vsmani filter coffee. You will definitely get more bookings. We love your filter coffee decoctions ', while another said: 'Vandevarrat filter coffee would be perfect.'
“That's good news. Railways should consider it,” a third user commented.
Bengaluru Entrepreneur Joins India's Shark Tank
GD Prasad appeared on Shark Tank India Season 2 last year along with co-founders Rahul Bajaj and Yashas Alur. Fronting the brand 'VS Mani & Co', the Bangalore-based founders said they aim to become the 'Haldiram of South India'. During their attendance, they raised Rs 1.9 million in 1% equity and Rs 41 million in debt at a valuation of Rs 19 million at 10% interest.
During this time, it was also known that Anupam Mittal, one of the judges, had already invested in VS Mani before appearing on the show.
