NORTHPORT, NY — Calypso, a beautiful green-eyed calico cat estimated to be born in 2022, has been named Kitten of the Week by the Northport Cat Rescue Society.
“Can you believe that this sweet little girl gave birth to nine babies and risked her life to protect them?!” rescue volunteer Laura Wilde wrote in an email. “Even though she was just a young kitten herself, she was her most loving mother. Since then, all her babies have been put up for adoption and now it's her turn.”

Calypso loves to be pet, loves to snuggle, loves to play and loves being with people, according to Wilde. She likes to curl up and rest right next to someone napping.
“Calypso should be the only pet in a household with only older children or adults, as they will hide if there is too much noise,” says Wilde. “We tried to reintroduce her to our habitat, but she got so upset there that we had to put her back into a foster home. It's not always easy to adopt a cat from a foster home, but we… We will continue to work hard until we find a home for her.'' She is the perfect adopted child and deserves nothing more than that. ”
Calypso is spayed, up to all vaccinations, potty trained, microchipped, and FELV/FIV negative.
“This sweet girl has been waiting a long time for someone to take a chance on her,” Wilde said. “She gets lonely without her companions and she wants to eventually fit into someone's life. She will definitely melt your heart if you meet her.” I guess.”
