SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) – Firefighters rescued three animals from an apartment fire in Spring Hill Monday morning.
According to the Spring Hill Fire Department, crews responded to the Worthington Glen Apartments just before 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, after receiving reports of a fire on the third floor.
With quick response and the assistance of a sprinkler system, the fire was extinguished. Officials said the sprinkler system played a key role in containing the fire and minimized its spread to neighboring units.
A dog and two cats were inside the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to locate the animal and safely evacuate it.
The Spring Hill Fire Department said a third-floor apartment suffered fire damage and the sprinkler system activated, causing water damage to the unit below.
Fire officials estimated the fire caused at least $150,000 worth of damage to the building.

According to the fire department, it appears that one of the cats in the apartment turned on the stove, causing the fire.
Worthington Glen management is working to relocate residents affected by the fire to other available units in the complex, officials said.
