A man wrote online that a Swiggy agent in Gurgaon tried to defraud him by “begging” him for Rs 5,000 for his pregnant wife's caesarean section.
“This happened in Gurgaon, but I'm sure it's happening elsewhere too. When I picked up my lunch today, I was greeted by a Swiggy driver sobbing and sweating. When I opened the door, Immediately, he started begging, saying that his pregnant wife was in the hospital and that he needed 5,000 rupees for the surgery, which he would give back when he got his paycheck the day after tomorrow,'' the customer wrote on Reddit.
“And this guy kept trying to force me to give him the keys to the bike, saying he could keep it until I paid him back,” he further wrote.
The customer added that the delivery company is insisting on receiving the money at this time. “The man was so insistent on giving me money at that moment that I had to ask him several times before he gave me his phone number. After this I took a photo of his QR code and forced the door into his face saying I would give him the money later. “I had to shut down,” he wrote.
When the customer returned, he heard an “aggressive” knock on the door.
“A few minutes later, I heard a loud knock on the door, but it wouldn’t open. Then, the Swiggy man had the audacity to open the unlocked main door and entered the house to find my home. He came to my room (I have a room in a shared 4BHK) and banged on my door. When I didn't open it, he said, “Sir dena hai toh do, jyota. Barosa mat dilao,” I shouted and started crying loudly. I simply told him to leave or I would call security, but he stayed for a few more minutes and then gave up and left,” the post further read.
The customer said he reported the incident to Swiggy and the food delivery platform promised to take action.

The video garnered countless reactions from Reddit users. One of them said, “I'm really worried about people breaking into homes without permission (locked or not). People who do that aren't afraid of the law, that's for sure.” Another user said, “This… It's 100% a scam. If someone asks for money, tell them to go to the police station.”
Last month, content creator Anisha Dixit said an Ola taxi driver demanded money from her, claiming that her father had died and that his wallet had been stolen.
