Mr Arbuckle's most recent job was as interim CTO at Virgin Money, where he served for seven months. Prior to that, he spent about three years at HSBC as MD and also as CTO of Wealth and Personal Banking. He spent similar time at Scotiabank, where he served as senior vice president of architecture for the platform organization and enterprise.
He spent a decent amount of time at General Electric, about five and a half years, but was separated into different business areas. He served as chief architect of the company's retail banking division, then global banking and joint ventures where he served as CTO, then GE Capital's financial services division where he worked for two years. .
Mr. Arbuckle also spent a year on the run with Barclays in Singapore, where he served as chief designer. Meanwhile, during his time at Scotiabank, he was based in Toronto.
If Arbuckle does that, sticking with Schroders might pay off. The group's current chief technology officer, Jamie Ovenden, held the role for just over a year before being promoted in 2021.
