BLVADE, Texas — Each week in our “Forgotten Friends” series, we introduce you to a dog or cat who has spent a significant amount of time in a local shelter, just waiting for someone to notice and take them home to love them.
This week's forgotten friend is Kiwi, a super adorable terrier mix who was brought to the shelter in April 2022. The Bulverde Area Humane Society (BAHS) determined that she was not defective and that she was not human, so her shelter took her into her care. for her.
The main reason why Kiwis are not yet adopted is because they must be the only pet in your home. When he was brought to the shelter, he was attacked and injured by several dogs, and now he doesn't want to have anything to do with other four-legged friends.

“When she was brought to us, she was injured,” said BAHS dog coordinator Penny Laflamme. She said: “She seemed attacked, so maybe that's why she's so reactive to other dogs.”
But she really loves people, especially children.
“She would do well in any family,” Penny said. “She will get along well with children of all ages.”
Although she likes being a couch potato, she also enjoys walking.
Kiwis love to be brushed and have great personalities. She shows her affection by licking you.
“Kiwis are really smart and very eager for food and treats,” Penny said. “She loves walks, she loves brushing, and if you leave her alone she'll lick you from head to toe. She's a really fun dog, but the stress of the shelter environment has affected her and made her more reactive. I think you're elevating it.''Other animals. ”
Kiwi is healthy, vaccinated and chipped, waiting for you at the Bulverde Regional Humane Society.
“She's been thoroughly tested,” Penny said. “She is neutered, microchipped, heartworm and Chagas negative, and fully vaccinated (rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordatella) and flea, tick, and heartworm shots. Masu.”
Lucy's Doggy Daycare & Spa is lending a leg up by offering a complimentary 'grow up' day at the spa, including a massage therapy bath and powdery cure, for those who adopt Kiwi. One of Lucy's most cherished core values is to continue Lucy's tradition of giving back to puppies in need, as she was a rescuer herself.

The adoption fee for Kiwi is $100, which includes neutering, all vaccinations, and flea prevention. Her rates are low because she has been in the shelter for over a year.

BAHS hosts a monthly “Reading to the Cats and Dogs” event. The next time he will be held on Friday 26th April. From 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., grab your favorite book and come read to the animals.
All ages are welcome and we love pets! No sign up required. Just arrive on the day of the event with your books and closed-toed shoes. When you arrive, meet them for a quick orientation before heading out to read to your dog or cat. It's a great opportunity for children to hone their reading skills while feeling loved by the animals. Everyone benefits. Also suitable for older people. Let's interact with animals while activating your brain.
