Rescuers United for Furbabies (RUFF) will be offering free vaccinations to pets in the Walker County area next month.
This free vaccine is made possible through Petco Love's national vaccination initiative “Vaccininated and Loved,” which will provide an additional 1 million free pet vaccines to existing animal welfare partners, including RUFF, for family pets in need. We offer
Parvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats are the most prevalent and deadly diseases affecting pets, but they can be prevented with a simple vaccine. An estimated 30% of pet parents do not take their pets to the veterinarian each year for preventive treatment. To ensure the health of our beloved pets and address this critical need, RUFF and Petco Love have partnered to make pet vaccines available for free.
Through this nationwide effort, RUFF aims to vaccinate 600 pets. Vaccines will be distributed at the Jasper Veterinary Clinic, 306 Oak Hill Road, Jasper, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. First come first served. The free vaccines that will be distributed at the event through the Petco Love initiative will be the DAPPv dog vaccine and his HCP cat vaccine. You can also apply for low-cost spay/neuter tickets or free spay/neuter assistance.
“Thanks to Petco Love, we are able to make these important vaccination events free for pet owners,” said RUFF Director Kara Jones. “We strongly encourage local residents to take advantage of this free resource to help ensure the health of their local pets.”
Jones said vaccines will be administered on-site and there are no restrictions on vaccinations per household.
“It is so sad when pets suffer or die from diseases that could have been prevented. The situation is made even worse when unvaccinated pets end up in crowded shelter kennels, where these , a deadly disease that spreads rapidly, resulting in multiple deaths, rising costs, and preventing pet lives from being saved,” said Suzanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. . “By raising awareness and making this important preventive care more accessible to pets who don't currently receive life-saving vaccines, we can help prevent the spread of dangerous diseases.”
In November 2023, Petco Love's Vaccinated and Loved initiative will reach its goal of distributing 2 million free pet vaccines to family pets and will provide an additional 1 million doses to help make pet families healthier. We have promised to provide vaccines.
