Meghan Markle, wife of Britain's Prince Harry, is launching a new lifestyle brand believed to be named after the couple's California beach home.
American Riviera Orchard's Instagram page and website went live Thursday without prior warning, and both featured the golden emblem symbolizing the new venture.
The logo features the words Montecito, a celebrity enclave near Santa Barbara where the couple has lived since 2020 and is itself sometimes known as the American Riviera.
The bio on his social media account simply says “by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.”
A representative for the duchess confirmed to AFP that she would be involved in the new venture, without providing further details.
American Riviera Orchard seems to be a kitchen and lifestyle brand.
Thursday's announcement was accompanied by a grainy, retro-style promotional video that showed Meghan arranging flowers and baking bread in her kitchen.
The mailing list offered users the opportunity to sign up to “be the first to know about American Riviera Orchard products, availability, and updates.”
American Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan left their royal duties in 2020 and moved to California.
Their official Instagram account @sussexroyal has not posted since then.
Meghan's personal social media accounts and previous lifestyle blog were both shut down before the couple married.
In recent years, the couple has pursued various media ventures.
They criticized the British royal family in a series of high-profile reports, including a Netflix documentary series and Prince Harry's blockbuster autobiography, Spare.
The couple had an exclusive podcast deal with Spotify, but it ended last year after just one show.
Netflix also released an animated series created by Meghan Markle.
However, an executive at the streaming giant said in January that the couple's projects, including a movie, were still in “very early development stages.”
