The Hyannis Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show is back for its 65th year, this time with more than 50 vendors and a host of speakers and activities in a new location.
The show, which will take place March 23 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is hosted by the Hyannis Rotary Club and is celebrating its first anniversary at its new home, the Hyannis Youth Community Center. In past years, the show was held at Barnstable High School.
“This is kind of reinforcing what we had before,” said show co-chair Scott Petersen.
The show features more than 70 exhibitor booths and a sold-out floor, from home improvement companies such as Bay State Baths, Cape Cod Roofing & Siding, and ABS Fence Co. to gardening companies such as Osterville's Beacon Gardens and Hyannis Country Gardens. It is characterized by There are also several lifestyle-focused businesses, including Adventures With Karyn, a travel planning company.
“You can go from booth to booth and find out some background information about how much (home renovations) cost,” Petersen said. “This can be used as a general resource, giving you names, faces and phone numbers that you can use to decide exactly what you want to do that year or next year.”

Nonprofit organizations such as Hearts and Paws Comfort Dogs, Colorful Kidz and Cape Cod Bonsai Club will also occupy a section of the floor that Petersen described as a “nonprofit path” to interact with visitors. and share our goals and mission.
“We want[participants]to not only know what they can do for their own homes, but because we have a variety of nonprofit organizations, we want people to know where their money is going. “I wanted to do that,” said show co-chair Renee King.
As Hyannis Rotary's largest fundraising event, proceeds from admission typically bring in significant funds to support Hyannis Rotary's mission and incentives throughout the year. This year, however, admission to the show is free thanks to event sponsor Hyannis Honda.
“This is a completely new approach,” Petersen said. “We were asking for an admission fee every time the community came…Hyannis Honda was very generous and provided us with great sponsorships so the whole community could attend for free.” .”

In addition to vendors, the show will feature a variety of speakers and activities aimed at making the day fun for families and homeowners alike. There is a limited number of seats available for speaker events (approximately 35-40 seats per event). However, the talk will be recorded and shared after the show.
“This is a community event,” Petersen said. “It's not just the house. It's our entire community.”
For homeowners, two talks on rebates, one focused on solar energy and a general talk on the new state rebates, will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. , learn what rebates you're eligible for.
“We start with someone talking about rebates, like a solar power or energy information session, and then at the end of the day we bring in another rebate expert and talk about new Massachusetts rebates to help homeowners. I’ll show you everything,” King said. “Most of them are aimed at helping us live more environmentally conscious lives.”
For families, the biggest family activity of the day will be the Community Free Skate, which will take place on one of the community center's ice rinks from 1 to 2 p.m. Skating and attending are free, and a DJ will provide music for the event.
“Let's Grow Together,” a hands-on gardening session with Hyannis Country Gardens and “Let's Build Together,” a free building experience with Home Depot, will also be held for kids at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
There will also be other talks and activities, including a yoga class with Jitka Borowicz, past president of the Hyannis Rotary Club and current owner of Nobe Yoga & Wellness. A noon lesson on healthy eating with her Jeni Wheeler, co-founder and director of Family Table Collaborative. John Solomon's talk on composting focuses on lifestyle and healthy living.
“I didn't know it was really bad to throw cucumber shreds in the trash,” King said. “It really needs to be separated.”
Raffles will also be held throughout the day, and food and drinks will be available at the community center cafe operated by Hyannis' Little Sandwich Shop.
