March 13, 2024 – The Second African Health Conference, held at Harvard University's TH Chan School of Public Health, focused on the changing healthcare landscape in Africa and highlighted the changemakers who are helping drive that transformation. Featured.
The two-day event, held in late February and attended by about 200 people, was sponsored by the Harvard Chan African Health Student Forum. Student organizers for the event included his Valencia Lambert, SM ’24; Sabrina Evenjo, MPH '25; Dr. Teguo Joyum, PH '24; Tatenda Mugeni, DrPH '24; and Anja Riester, MPH '24.
Experts spoke on topics such as lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and how to protect Africa's health security and prepare for the next pandemic. Strengthening supply chains, manufacturing and innovation for medicines and vaccines. Health-related startups. Health information technology and artificial intelligence. and medical financing.
Speakers included officials from the World Health Organization, African health ministers, medical experts, entrepreneurs, and researchers.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony and gala featuring African culture, food, music and traditional dance performances.
