She fluttered against the wall.
A Pennsylvania woman says her pet cat had to be rescued after maintenance workers allegedly sealed the poor kitten inside a wall during a botched repair job. Sunday's video of her harrowing “meat-redemption” moment has been viewed more than 2.5 million times on TikTok.
“I really can't believe the maintenance team put my cat against a weird wall!!” the TikToker (known as Jay on the platform) wrote in the caption of her cat's celestial video.
Jay, who lives in King of Prussia, knew something was wrong when he entered his apartment and heard the cat “meowing and scratching on the walls.”
“I'm so sorry. He was probably very scared,” Jay wrote, before calling maintenance's “emergency line” for help.
Unable to reach her, she called 911. The operator reportedly advised her to “cut a hole in the wall.”
In the 90-second video, the pitiful cries of a trapped kitten can be heard coming from behind a white wall.
Suddenly, a cat stuck its foot through the plaster, and Jay tried to carve it out with a knife.
“Wait a minute, I'll make it bigger!'' The cat woman was crying as she frantically scraped it off.
Jay then tries to kick the wall, on the advice of the 911 operator, but to no avail.
It was “hard as a rock,” she lamented.
Finally, after nearly a minute of rubbing, the gap becomes wide enough for the kitten to slip through and escape from its plaster prison.
“I felt so relieved after letting him out,” his grateful owner wrote in the caption. “Oh, I was rolling my eyes, my cat is my baby.”
Luckily, the kitten seemed to be doing just fine like a cat after being trapped.
The newspaper has reached out to Jay and representatives of the apartment complex for comment.
Later footage shows Jay asking a man, whom he identified as the property manager, to speak with the painters about the incident.
“You disrespected me by plucking my cat against the wall,” she said.
Meanwhile, TikTok viewers were horrified by the abuse, with one advocate writing: “They shoved the cat squarely into the wall.”
“He's stretching his legs and asking for help…poor baby,” said another woman.
Some skeptics felt that maintenance staff had deliberately boxed him in. “It's so mean and sad. There's [is] I can't believe they didn't know,” declared one viewer.
“Girl, you owe me money,” said the third man, and Jay replied, “Well, like my cat, she deserves to be on a beach in Hawaii after something like this happens.” I answered.
Apparently, Jay isn't the only pet being kept under “house arrest.”
One commenter emphasized, “This happened to me.” “The HVAC company trapped my cat in a wall, so when her husband told the company and asked for help, she was told to get a new cat. I lost it.”
