SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) — Less than a day after shots were fired inside Science and Technology High School, new details have been released by Springfield police.
After shots were fired inside Cytec yesterday afternoon, videos of the incident flooded social media on Monday.
Police said no one was shot or seriously injured.
Springfield Police Department Spokesman Ryan Walsh on Tuesday provided new insight into one of the suspects.
“A 22-year-old man named Josiah Livingston was arrested on Monday on suspicion of assault and battery. He was involved in an altercation at school. Our detective agency is working hard. The investigation is ongoing. We are making significant progress regarding other suspects,” Walsh explained.
Livingston was charged Tuesday morning with assault and battery.
Walsh added that the incident began on Monday around 2:10 p.m., when a school resource officer reported a major disturbance inside the school. One of the suspects was in possession of a gun. He reportedly fired from the school hallway, hitting a window, but the gunman has not yet been identified.
