Vulnerable patients in need of essential medical care deserve treatments that improve their health, but today such care is becoming a rare luxury. The Biden administration has imposed radical cultural and political policies on hospitals, medical professionals, and patients that impede access to comprehensive health care.
The White House will soon lift conscience protections for health care workers who object to harmful procedures such as abortion. The purpose is to empower them to administer such “treatments” against their best medical judgment and beliefs. This administration's move is just one of many egregious violations that perpetuate medical misinformation and jeopardize genuine patient care.
Immediately after Roe v. Wade was overturned, the administration issued federal guidelines aimed at forcing emergency room doctors to perform abortions as “emergency care,” but Texas and Idaho objected. Ta. In advancing this power move, Biden's team is building a 1986 emergency medical It relied on a questionable oversimplification of labor law (EMTALA). – At an abortion clinic. ” This once again reveals that the White House is prioritizing unrestricted abortion over the health of patients.
This insensitive guidance creates a wedge between emergency patients and the care they need, potentially costing dozens of innocent lives. Giving women the false impression that abortion is a life-saving treatment risks inducing them to seek treatment that could lead to lifelong psychological and physical harm. However, most doctors understand that an induced abortion is not medically necessary to save the mother's life. And despite the irresponsible fear-mongering of the administration and its allies, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has already removed the treatment of some emergency complications, such as ectopic pregnancy and early pregnancy failure, from the definition of abortion. Excluded correctly. Nevertheless, the administration attempts to portray abortion as a medical necessity.
When a woman faces an emergency complication and presents to a life-affirming emergency room, she receives timely and excellent medical care. This care is what EMTALA has always sought and what expectant mothers have long benefited from in every state and facility across the country, and in states with laws that protect the life of a child before birth. This is something that continues to be received. But these women quickly realized that the real care needed in their states was being undermined by other measures, such as the new EMTALA guidance, driven by politics rather than medical wisdom. You might notice.
This year, the Biden team is pushing yet another federal rule that would prevent the nation's 3,000 local pregnancy resource centers from receiving $16.5 million in federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds. Withholding TANF funds is completely at odds with the life-affirming mission of these centers, which outnumber family planning facilities 14 to 1.
Pregnancy centers that currently benefit from TANF funds, such as Missouri and Pennsylvania, are offering free ultrasounds in conjunction with the program, even though TANF exists to “promote job training.” Tests, medical exams, housing, clothing, etc. will no longer be provided. And marriage… and encouragement of two-parent families. ” These goals are consistent with the long-standing mission of these centers to support mothers financially, emotionally and physically.
Physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals who carefully attend to patients in medical pregnancy centers and emergency rooms can point to countless stories of women who have benefited from life-affirming care. For example, Jean Davis was empowered by the staff at one such center to not only give birth to her son, but also to escape a life of unspeakable abuse, human trafficking, and drug addiction. She now works full-time counseling women from similar backgrounds to her own.
Patients deserve excellent, life-saving and life-affirming care at every stage and stage of life. Fathers, mothers, grandparents and children deserve no less. For this very reason, our organization is committed to continuing this type of care, even in the face of politically motivated hostility.
The Biden administration must stop prioritizing partisan politics over patient lives. If we all work together, we can protect quality health care for our loved ones. First, stand up to the Biden administration's crusade for life-affirming health care.
