Officials said the two suffered non-life-threatening injuries before rescue efforts began. Colleen Mainville is a spokesperson for the U.S. Forest Service. She said conditions in the valley were icy. Rescue workers also struggled through snow and wind.

Meanwhile, authorities on Sunday released the names of two National Guard soldiers and a Border Patrol agent killed when their plane crashed into a Texas field on Friday. Officials said the New York National Guard soldiers killed were Warrant Officer Casey Frankowski and Warrant Officer John Gracia. Border Patrol Agent Chris Luna was also killed. The UH-72 Lakota helicopter was assigned to federal border patrol missions. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Ohio State Police say two women tried to drive man's body to bank
ASHTABULA, Ohio (AP) – Two Ohio women are accused of driving a deceased 80-year-old man to a bank to withdraw money from his account before leaving his body at a hospital. Karen Kasbohm, 63, and Loreen Bea Ferraro, 55, were charged with felony abuse of a corpse and theft from a protected class person, according to Ashtabula City Court records. Authorities allege the suspects went to the bank and dropped off the body of 80-year-old Douglas Layman at the hospital while Layman sat in his car and was visible to bank employees. It is unclear whether the defendant has a lawyer.
Auburn student makes 94-foot court-length putt and wins car
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — An Auburn University student connected on a long-range shot and sunk a long putt on the basketball court to win a car Saturday. Connor Boyle rolled a golf ball from the baseline past a sign next to the opposite basket and made a 94-foot putt during a second-half promotion of Auburn's game against Georgia.
