KOKOMO — Nominations are being accepted until March 30 for Ivy Tech Community College's 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award. The Ivy Tech Outstanding Alumni Award, which recognizes the achievements of Ivy Tech graduates, is the highest honor recognizing graduates from campuses across the state.
“Ivy Tech alumni have accomplished so much in the community, and we want to celebrate their contributions and hear their stories,” said Serving Cass, Fulton, Howard, Miami and Pulaski. said Kelly Kalikov, executive director of resource development for the Ivy Tech region. and Tipton County.
“Let's take last year's recipient, Katherine Hightower Valcke, as an example,” she continued. “Kathy earned her technical certificate as a medical assistant from Ivy Tech Kokomo in 1981 with the goal of using those skills to pay for her education at Indiana University Kokomo. She completed her undergraduate degree without incurring debt. She earned a master's degree and went on to a distinguished 25-year career as a leader in higher education and community development.”
The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented annually to an individual who has made a positive contribution to the community or Ivy Tech. Established in 1998, this award is presented to an Ivy Tech graduate to commemorate their professional or personal accomplishments since completing their Ivy Tech education.
