BAMBERG — Twenty-six truckloads of donated pet food and supplies have arrived in Bamberg as part of a nationwide partnership between the Humane Society of the United States and Chewy Co., an online retailer of pet food and other pet-related products. .

Pallets of donated pet food and supplies arrived in Bamberg last week as part of the Humane Society of the United States and Pet Supplies Alliance.
Bamberg is the third recipient of the 2024 Chewy Truck in the state, according to HSUS SC State Director Janelle Gregory.
Chewy will donate supplies and food, and HSUS will pay associated shipping costs and coordinate delivery. In this particular example, Bamberg County leaders partnered with the Bamberg County Agency on Aging to distribute pet products to elderly pet owners.

Gregory said, “The partnership between HSUS and Chewy is designed to help keep pets in the home. This program supports families who are struggling to provide for their pets, especially in marginalized communities. During the pandemic, many pet owners were faced with having to surrender their pets due to lack of supplies, so this program was launched during the coronavirus pandemic. was created to provide these supplies and help keep pets in homes where they belong.
Last year, HSUS brought in more than $2 million in donations to South Carolina through this program, she said. HSUS SC has worked with her more than 20 different partners in each region of South Carolina to ensure they can serve as many communities as possible.
