Doha – More than 360 medical professionals attended the Lifestyle Medicine Symposium to discuss recent advances in lifestyle medicine education, medical practice, and research.
The one-day symposium, hosted by the Institute for Population Health (IPH) at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q), included participants from Qatar, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Hungary, India, Lithuania, Malaysia, and Mexico. Experts gathered. , Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
The symposium, titled “Lifestyle Medicine – Redefining Health Care to Promote Health,” included the Lifestyle Medicine Global Alliance (LMGA), the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine (IBLM), the World Health Organization Eastern Mediterranean Region, It featured speakers and panelists from the Office of the United Nations Population Fund. (UNFPA), Qatar Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), and the World Lifestyle Medicine Association.
In addition to the symposium, the Lifestyle Medicine Global Alliance Leadership Forum was held where experts discussed the Doha Declaration and the Lifestyle Medicine Competencies.
Lifestyle medicine employs evidence-based strategies to prevent, treat, and manage chronic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure while promoting overall health and well-being. These strategies include adopting positive lifestyle habits such as regular physical activity, healthy nutrition, effective stress management, restorative sleep, social connection, and refraining from harmful substances. will appear.

Dr. Mamtani spoke about the transformative power of lifestyle medicine in shaping health care and highlighted the pivotal role of lifestyle medicine in promoting overall well-being and combating the epidemic of chronic diseases. “A significant proportion of mortality is attributable to chronic lifestyle-related diseases, and educating the public about modifiable lifestyle factors can significantly reduce the burden of these diseases,” he said.
