When a Reddit user angered his sister's child by buying her a dog toy instead of a stuffed animal, other users on the platform assured her that she had done nothing wrong.
“Aita? I bought a non-traditional toy for my niece,” Reddit user “Solid-Feature-7678” said in a recent post on Reddit's “Am I the A–hole” subreddit .
In the post, the person said her toddler niece “had a favorite lamb toy,” but said she tends to be pretty rough with toys.
“Poor little furball has gone to stuffed animal heaven,” the poster wrote in the thread, without specifying the gender.
Apparently, the niece was “heartbroken” over the loss of her beloved toy, so Solid-Feature-7678 decided to buy her a new toy.
“All the stuffed lamb toys I've seen were as fragile as before, but when I saw the Lamb Chop dog toy while giving my dog treats, I was shocked,” says Solid- Feature-7678 writes.
The person added, “I had a great idea.”
Since the toy is “made to be chewed and nailed,” Solid-Feature-7678 thought it “should be easy to handle.” [any] This is child abuse. ”
The person went on to say: “So I bought it and was watching her niece for her sister on Saturday. [brother-in-law]. I gave the toy to my girlfriend's niece and she loved it. ”
The original poster said the toy had a chirping sound and that his niece “loved it.”
However, the child's mother was not too excited about the gift.
“My sister is completely [lost it]” the person wrote on Reddit.
“You bought my baby a dog toy!'' My sister obviously started screaming.
Solid-Feature-7678's sister then sent the Reddit poster a series of texts criticizing the gift, as well as “a few curse words thrown in at random.”
The rest of the family reportedly had mixed opinions about the gift, with the poster's mother saying it wasn't appropriate, while her stepfather and brother-in-law found it “insanely funny.”
”[brother-in-law] I’m quietly enjoying myself, but I’m keeping my head down,” Solid-Feature-7678 said.
Meanwhile, my young niece seems to be obsessed with her new toy.
“What my sister took was [toy] Now I’m doubly stinking from her because she left and my niece had a meltdown until she got it back,” Solid-Feature-7678 wrote.
“And my niece still loves Fluffball.”
The person asked the other person, “So AITA?” I was just trying to make her niece happy. ”
