New Delhi:
In yet another dog attack in the national capital, a seven-year-old girl was injured by her pet pit bull in Shahadra's Jagatpuri area, police said today.
Police said the girl was playing outside her home on Friday night when she was suddenly attacked and dragged by a dog, before being rescued by neighbors.
The girl was taken to the hospital by her mother, where her condition was said to be out of danger, the police officer added.
Police recorded a statement from the girl's mother and scanned CCTV footage from the scene to confirm the sequence of events.
A case has been filed against the dog's owner, Shivanand Bhaskar, under sections 289 (negligent act towards animals) and 337 (injury caused by act endangering life or personal safety of another) of the Indian Penal Code. Police announced that an investigation has been launched.
