WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Midwest State University hosted the Texas Tech University Board of Governors meeting Thursday afternoon.
Board members were able to tour the campus before the meeting, and Dr. Haney said he was happy to show them what they were a part of.
“This is a great opportunity for us to build engagement with the presidents, the campus, faculty and students, and we are really excited to showcase the beauty of our campus and where we are headed,” said Dr. Haney. said.
The Facilities Committee took to the stage to speak about the renovations taking place within Texas Tech University, including MSU's Bolin Hall.A groundbreaking ceremony for this was held Thursday at 4 p.m.
Another thing that will be implemented at MSU after this conference is a Bachelor of Science and Political Science degree program that will be an extension of the existing Bachelor of Arts degree. Designed to enhance support and success for students interested in data literacy and political strategy. This does not require additional resources and is expected to benefit MSU's recruitment retention and graduation goals.
Other topics of discussion included Senate Bill 17, which would have the Committee on Audit conduct an audit of the bill. That's the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion's limitations within academic institutions.
The audit examines the internal control procedures each university has put in place to ensure continued compliance, with the expectation of compliance sustainability for years to come.
