One of this season's notable debuts, Chemena Kamali takes Chloe back to her bohemian roots for fall 2024.
The collection, unveiled today during Paris Fashion Week, featured ruffled dresses, patchwork denim and fringed jackets. Combined with long hair styled in free loose curls, the show took Karl Lagerfeld back to his 1970s when he was the brand's creative director. In the brand's over 70-year history, he is the only male designer to have served as the brand's top designer. While the fall 2024 runway saw a variety of footwear, including fringed pumps, studded leather sandals, and kitten-heel mules, front-row attendees were almost uniformly wearing some style of wedge. Ta.
Sienna Miller, Georgia May Jagger, Pat Cleveland and daughter Anna, Liya Kebede, Clemence Poésy, Kiernan Shipka and others wore wedges at the event.
The New York Times' chief fashion critic Vanessa Friedman tweeted a photo of Posey wearing various versions chatting with Susie Bemba and Alice Isers. Posey's style had straps and buckles around her ankles, while Bemba's style was mule-like. All were different versions of brown and black.
On the runway, one option was a clog paired with denim. The style was lined with rivets and featured the brand's logo on a gold plate on the medial heel. Many people believe that wedges provide more support and comfort in place of other high heel styles like stilettos.
It is unclear whether these designs are set as part of a seasonal collection or are house staples pulled from the archives. While Fall 2024 was Kamali's first collection to the public, the designer also showed off his Pre-Fall 2024 collection to some clients. The collection will be available to the public following its debut this week.
But Chloe isn't alone in her wedges this season. During London Fashion Week earlier this month, Daniel Lee sent out models in Burberry boots with built-in wedge heels.
