At this point in the draft process, it appears to be a fairly common belief that LSU will select three players in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.Jaden Daniels, Malik Nabors, Brian Thomas Jr.
With the NFL Combine just a few days away and many draft analysts releasing second editions of their mock drafts, we thought we'd take a look at where the Tigers are projected to land before the NFL Combine and the pros. I did. Day.
jayden daniels
Daniel Jeremiah: Surprisingly, Daniel Jeremiah has Jaden Daniels as the second LSU Tiger behind Malik Nabors. This will be explained later.
Jeremiah is currently projected to fall to No. 6 with Jaden Daniels to the New York Giants. He is the third quarterback in this mock, behind Caleb Williams (No. 1) and Drake Maye (No. 2).
Mel Kiper: Mel Kiper was the first draft expert to select Jaden Daniels No. 2 overall to the Washington Commanders, but he wasn't the only one. Sam Howell likely won't be a starter next year, and with a new OC, Washington could turn heads at the QB position.
Ryan Wilson: Ryan Wilson's first Tiger will be Jayden Daniels, who he projects will be No. 2 for the Washington Commanders.
With Sam Howell's experiment not going as planned, the manager clearly needs a quarterback. They just hired quarterback guru Kliff Kingsbury as their new OC, but if he wants a difference-maker at the QB position, Jaden Daniels could be his pick. There is sex.
Chris Trapasso: Similar to Wilson, Chris Trapasso has Jaden Daniels as the No. 2 pick for the Washington Commanders. We already detailed what this means for Daniels in our Wilson mock, but this is one possible landing spot for him to become a starter in his rookie season.
tom fornelli: Fornelli landed two-thirds of the Tigers in new spots, one of them being Jayden Daniels, who fell to Atlanta at No. 8.
With a new system in place in Atlanta and the likely departure of Desmond Ridder as QB1, the Falcons clearly need a new QB. They have the No. 8 pick and it would be a little surprising if Daniels was on the board that long, but if he can get to Atlanta, he'll have a clear path to becoming their QB1 sooner rather than later.
Malik Nabers
Daniel Jeremiah: Malik Nabors is expected to be selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 4 pick, one spot behind Marvin Harrison Jr., who will be selected by Tiger Jeremiah first.
Arizona is a very logical landing spot for Neighbors. They have a proven QB1, but no true No. 1 receiver. Nabors is expected to come in and make an impact very early on, and with his skill set he should be able to do that against Kyler Murray as well.
Mel Kiper: Kiper picks Neighbors lower than any other draft expert, mocking him for going No. 9 to the Chicago Bears. He will be paired with Caleb Williams in this draft, giving Williams a WR duo of Neighbors and DJ Moore. With a new OC, a new QB, and a new WR, the Bears could have a pretty fun and formidable offense in 2024.
Ryan Wilson: Wilson dropped Malik Nabers to the New York Giants at No. 6. Like Jeremiah, he is the second receiver Arizona has drafted in this mock, following Marvin Harrison.
Like the Cardinals, the Giants have a clear need for wide receivers. They gave Daniel Jones the bag last offseason, but he didn't have the weapons at his disposal, which led to a poor 2024 season. This is another spot where Neighbors could step in as a WR1 right away starting in Week 1.
Chris Trapasso: Another mock draft, Malik Nabors' new landing spot. Trapasso dropped the LSU wideout to No. 8 in this draft and was traded to the Atlanta Falcons.
Many of you are probably Saints fans who would hate this, but Atlanta wouldn't be the worst landing spot for Nabors. He will slot in next to Drake Rondon in an offense that will be throwing the ball more with Zach Robinson as offensive coordinator. If he goes to Atlanta, he expects he could get a lot of playing time in his rookie season.
tom fornelli: The only Tiger who didn't land in a new spot in this mock is Malik Nabors, who plays No. 6 for the New York Giants. Like I said, he'll be the Giants' WR1 right away, so if he wants to produce early, this is one of the better spots for him.
Daniel Jeremiah: Jeremiah has Brian Thomas selected as the third and final Tiger selected in the first round of this year's mock draft. In this mock, he fell to the 23rd pick, landing in Houston along with CJ Stroud.
This would be a great landing spot for Thomas. They have two proven receivers in Nico Collins and Tank Dell, but they don't have a big-bodied wideout who can go up and catch the ball 50/50. He will take on the role of their WR3, but should still get a good target share in an offense that loves to throw the ball.
Mel Kiper: The last player LSU Tiger Kiper will play in the first round is Brian Thomas. Like Neighbors, this is the lowest place Thomas will land, heading to the Bills at No. 28. With Gabe Davis' future in Buffalo hanging in the balance, BTJ could pretty easily step into the WR2 role.
Ryan Wilson: Wilson was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, knocking him down to No. 26 over Brian Thomas Jr.
With Mike Evans' future in Tampa in doubt, the Bucs will need another wideout to complement Chris Godwin, especially if they sign Baker Mayfield to an extension. He will slide into the Mike Evans role, and while he may not be as efficient, he should see some playing time.
Chris Trapasso: Even if you didn't like Neighbors' mocking of Atlanta, you'll appreciate the spot on Thomas, who was taken with the No. 18 pick by the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bengals just acquired Tee Higgins and have already acquired Ja'Marr Chase, but with Tyler Boyd likely leaving, the Bengals have a hole at No. 3 WR this season. I don't think Cincy will be a receiver with this pick unless I expect Higgins to leave after this season, but he and Burrow have a good relationship as he could fill in for Higgins if BT gets here. It is possible to build.
tom fornelli: Finally, Brian Thomas landed on the fourth different team in many mock drafts, landing with the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 17th pick.
The Jags are not expected to keep Calvin Ridley and would have to give Atlanta a second-round pick for his services, leaving a big hole at No. 2 WR. Next to Christian Kirk, Thomas could continue to play a downfield role as one of the league's best young QBs will be able to throw him the ball.
