The first Zara in the U.S. debuted in New York in 1989, and it's mind-boggling to think that in just a few decades, the brand has saturated the masses across the U.S. and around the world. ZARA has always been a reliable retailer of runway-inspired clothing and accessories at affordable prices, so news of its expansion into beauty made headlines. Following a glittering, gold-splashed line of holiday-ready products, Zara Hair's Everyday Basics collection has arrived. Essentially, this is a one-and-done starter pack for all the go-to styles in your repertoire. Curated by celebrity and hair editor legend Guido Palau, who channels his years of experience and expertise into carefully selected, carefully formulated favorite products. Not only is it effective, but it also looks attractively displayed on your bathroom counter.
Just as ZARA's clothing is perfect for building your wardrobe with standout pieces and everyday essentials, the drop's range, which launches on March 4, has an appealing twist. It's a reliable workhorse. The line consists of classic hairsprays, volumizing mousses, curl activators, dry texturing sprays, and lightweight hair balms that serve as a smooth, shine-enhancing finish.
As Palau states to TZR, this collection is the foundation of modern hairstyling as a whole. “We listened to our consumers over the years about what they like and don't like about styling products, and created a line that is extremely easy to use,” he explains. Every item in the lineup is priced under $23, making it the perfect set for just about anyone. However, despite its universal appeal, the brand has not skimped on the kind of luxurious details that make its range feel so noble. Stories perfumer Jérôme Epinette created the collection's signature scent, and creative agency Baron & Baron designed eye-catching, high-fashion packaging that gives a whole new meaning to the clash of powers.
Given that Palau has worked with ZARA for many years, he knows the customer base and how to translate industry proficiency into approachable product sets and easy-to-apply formulas. Palau explains to his TZR that Everyday Essentials can be layered and mixed for added strength or to try new textures. But one underrated item he thinks every home kit should include is Dry His Texturizing Spray. “…can add dimension to any hairstyle, extend blow-drying time, add vibrancy to slightly dry hair, and is a very user-friendly product. ”
