JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, located at 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.
Here we will introduce two of them.
Minnie is a one-year-old American Staffordshire mix and is a fine medium-sized puppy weighing 38 pounds. She is a kind girl, but her attitude is timid, but she wants someone to spend time with, learn new things, and have a consistent family.
It takes about a minute for Minnie to come out of her shell. She often has that “Am I a good dog?” look on her face.
Marble is a 1-year-old solid gray domestic cat with beautiful green eyes. She is one of 13 abandoned trailer home cats currently at the shelter.
Although she gets along well with other cats, she is a little reluctant to meet new people. However, she was very pleasant and cooperative when I woke up from her nap to take photos.
An online application is required to adopt a dog. Meeting the dog is also a must. You can use a cat room walkthrough to test your reactions. Dog adoption fees are $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, and include vaccinations, microchip and neutering.
Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat or $80 for two cats and include applicable exams, vaccinations, and spay/neuter.
While it's always best to visit a shelter, other adoption resources include applying online at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animals, 517-780- 4750 or email to animalshelter@mijackson.org. .
The shelter's current operating hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. .
