Here are England's player ratings after Saturday's 30-21 Six Nations defeat to Scotland at Murrayfield.
15 George Furbank: It's very complicated. There were some good things, but the playmaking axis made too many mistakes. The jury has not yet evaluated him at the testing level. Five
14 Tommy Freeman: There has been silence since the match against Italy. It works somewhat in the air, but not much else. Five
error
13 Henry Slade: There are too many mistakes at this level. Poor passing was one of the main reasons why England couldn't catch up in the first half. Some bad defensive reads also took their toll. Four
12 Ollie Lawrence: I rarely saw him in an offensive sense. A few carries, one bad pass, one dropped ball – although that was George Ford's fault – but he wasn't in the form we saw in the Premiership. Four
11 Elliot Daly: The opening try was a great job, but other than that nothing really stood out. After a mediocre effort in the first three rounds, the standings should be under threat. Five
Terrible decision making and execution
10 George Ford: Like Slade and Furbank, his passing was terrifying. When it's in his boots he's fine, but that rather sums up England. It almost feels like his offensive game was coached by him. Either that, or he's just not feeling well. Four
9 Danny Care: A few levels below Alex Mitchell. A lack of length in the box kicks put England under pressure, especially early in the second half, but their decisions from the base were abysmal. Four
Disassembly work
7 Sam Underhill: A busy performance from the flankers. He got two key turnovers at the breakdown before being ejected. 7
6 Ethan Roots: In the other game following the Wales game, he never imposed himself on the game. Five
5 Olly Chetham: He disrupted Scotland's lineouts several times and had a few decent carries before fading in the second period. 6
shining light
4 Maro Itoje: Along with Earl, he has always been the bright spot in this England team at the moment. It didn't stop for 80 minutes. 7
3 Dan Cole: He feels like a pretty pointless choice if he's not gaining an edge at the scrum, as he doesn't offer anything else and Scotland have essentially neutralized him at set-pieces. Five
2 Jamie George (c): As usual, the lineout was busy on point and especially defensively at the loose. 6
1 Ellis Genge: He had more carries than he has recently and had reasonable set pieces. 6
Replacement: Ben Spencer unfortunately wasn't able to up the tempo, but George Martin, Chandler Cunningham-South, and Finn Smith all came off the bench and were active. But the main influence came from Immanuel Fay-Waboso, who achieved more in his minutes on the field than the likes of Elliot Daly played in all Six Nations. . 6
