Let's skip to the good parts.
4 game streamers
Pierre-Luc Dubois, C/LW, LAK | 43% Yahoo
We ask about Dubois every round of “Keep or Kick.” We expect more from Dubois. But his recent efforts are a step in the right direction, and some of that is credited to his linemates. Dubois' shooting quality improved in the minutes he played 5-on-5 with Quinton Byfield, and his scoring pace increased. The big question will be how this trio will mesh with the return of Blake Risotto, but we're optimistic here.
Wyatt Johnston, C/RW, DAL | 39% Yahoo
Johnston briefly moved back to the third line, but was reinstated along with Roop Hintz and Jason Robertson. In 104 minutes of five-on-five heading into Thursday night, the trio led the play with over 82 percent of the expected goal shares. And they outscored their opponents 9-1, matching that result. The Johnston is a reliable shot generator, but expect more production from this line.
Marcus Pettersson, D, PIT | 7% Yahoo
The defenseman should be busy in the Penguins' next game. Edmonton is one of the best teams in the league in terms of quantity and quality of shots. The Flames will attempt high-rate shots. And the Canucks are all about taking chances. These matchups are a great opportunity for this shot to get a boost from his blocker.
Warren Vogele, LW/RW, EDM | 5% Yahoo
Keep an eye on where Vogele fits in the Oilers lineup. With Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sidelined Wednesday, he moved up to Connor McDavid's wing. It's probably a more temporary position for him, but he'll likely drop to Leon Draisaitl's wing next. Anytime he's in Edmonton's top six, the forward is worth keeping an eye on.
Matthew Joseph, RW, OTT | 3% Yahoo
If there's one thing I tend to pick up from this section, it's that whenever I'm put in a position to succeed, I want to focus on players with depth. That's the case with Ottawa's Joseph, who joins Tim Stuetzle and Claude Giroux on the top line. With this line combination, the Senators (heading into Thursday night) controlled play with approximately 64 percent of their expected goal share and outscored their opponents 12-8.
Connor McMichael, C, WSH | 1% Yahoo
McMichael…Hello.
via HockeyStatCards
Talk about the recent spike in his game. A lot of that is down to his even-strength play. The Capitals' 5-on-5 play has been strong on both ends of the ice the last few games McMichael has played, and he's scored to back it up. Additionally, PP1's potential could be useful against either the Red Wings, who are short-handed but rank in the bottom five in expected goals, or against the Senators, whose goaltending has been hurt on the penalty kill.
light night performer
Beyond the four-game streamers (the Oilers, Senators, and Capitals have two bright nights, and the Kings, Stars, and Coyotes have one bright night), there are a few players worth noting. actually It will fit into your lineup.
Johnny Gaudreau, LW, CBJ | 54% Yahoo
Gaudreau's game was more disappointing than expected all year. However, his playmaking is finally on the rise and his shooting volume is starting to increase as well. So he's back on our radar again, but expectations should still be tempered considering his body of work over the past year.
hockey stats card
Boone Jenner, C/LW, CBJ | 51% Yahoo
Jenner brings a pragmatic feel to fantasy hockey. He's a promising secondary scorer and shooter, and he also contributes physically.
Torey Krug, D, STL | 28% Yahoo
St. Louis may have fundamental concerns about this development, but shooting luck is in their favor. That's what makes a player like Krug valuable this week — he moves the puck well and is the top quarterback on the power play unit.
James van Riemsdyk, LW, BOS | 9% Yahoo
Danton Heinen and Jake DeBrusk That's a great option considering his current top-six role, but Van Riemsdyk's position at the top of the power-play unit gives him an edge here.
goalkeeper guide
Every few weeks, you need to evaluate the most difficult position to evaluate: the goalie. Here are nine goalkeepers to watch next week.
Cam Talbot, G, LAK | 70% Yahoo
After a stretch of shaky play, Talbot got off to two really strong starts for the Kings. Against the Penguins and Blue Jackets, he saved a total of 4.15 goals, which was better than expected. It will take him more than just two games to prove he's back to his early-season form, and there's no time like the present. Los Angeles has four games scheduled, including three intradistrict games.
Alex Lyon, G, DET | 61% Yahoo
After several solid weeks of play, Lyon's game seemed to be starting to falter. But he bounced back with a string of quality starts. He first showed off with a 41-save performance against Seattle, then showed off against Colorado with a better-than-expected 2.14 goals against per game. It's Lyon's goal in Detroit as the team looks certain to return to the playoffs.
Joey Daccord, G, SEA | 79% Yahoo
Speaking of unexpected starters, Daccord earned playing time in Seattle. Looking ahead to 2024, he has 11 quality starts in 16 games so far. They will be tested next week against Boston, Pittsburgh and Edmonton. It will be interesting to see if he will qualify for the game against the Penguins on February 29th. Considering their struggles on the power play, this could be another big opportunity for him.
John Gibson / Lucas Dostal, G, ANA
The Ducks have back-to-back games next week against two teams that are struggling offensively. The Sharks are up first before the Devils come to town. New Jersey has shooting talent. should You will be able to walk all over Anaheim. But the team's power play has been through it lately. Furthermore, at 5-on-5, he sometimes has a hard time converting chances.
Anthony Stratz, G, Florida | 14% Yahoo
After Sergei Bobrovsky started three games in a row, Stralts should be close to playing. The Panthers backup has been reliable, saving nearly nine goals in 17 games, more than expected. He can quickly push the net up for teams in trouble.
Laurent Brossoit, G, WPG | 15% Yahoo
Another backup goaltender worth adding whenever he plays is Brossoit. I'm going to point out his possible availability, but next week's back-to-back games between the Hurricanes and Sabers (next Saturday and Sunday) should be split between the Jets' two goaltenders.
Scott Wedgwood, G, DAL | 12% Yahoo
Wedgwood also remains a reliable backup netminder. The Stars are scheduled to play back-to-back games against the Islanders and Avalanche early next week. Each team has a different strategy for this. In some cases, the idea is to load up on the first day of a back-to-back and secure at least two points for him early on. But given the importance of those two points over the Avalanche, it wouldn't be surprising to see Jake Oettinger nominated for the deal on Tuesday, with Wedgewood playing against the Islanders on Monday.
Anton Forsberg, G, OTT | 5% Yahoo
Joonas Korpisalo and Forsberg have had a more even goal rotation over the past few games, and the team's backups are rising to the occasion. There are four games scheduled for next week, including two in a row, and it is expected that the workload will continue to be spread out. If he can maintain this level of play, he could be a valuable addition to a manager who needs one or two more starts.
