The 17th annual Mardi Growl includes the annual pet parade, nearly 100 vendors, food trucks, games and fun for humans and dogs alike.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Every year around March, downtown Knoxville goes to see its dogs in the best way possible.
The 17th annual Mardi Growl returns to Knoxville on March 2nd. Every year, a large number of costumed pets gather. This year, there will be a parade from the old town to Expo Park. This year's pet parade will begin at 11 a.m., and anyone wishing to participate must register their pet in advance for $15.
Young Williams Animal Center said you can also register for the March 2nd parade for $20. They will have the opportunity to march through downtown Knoxville in front of thousands of spectators eager to see their adorable pets dressed up for the party.
Mardi Growl helps raise money for animal centers, helping them care for thousands of animals each year.
People and pets can compete in a costume contest, where people's creativity and ingenuity are rewarded. The parade ends at the festival grounds at Expo Park. There, you'll find around 100 vendors, live music, games and all kinds of fun for people and pets.
Young-Williams Animal Center also said its spay shuttle will be at the festival, giving pet owners a chance to get their dogs a microchip and rabies vaccine for $10. Shuttle reservations can be made online.
Pets must be leashed during Mardi Growl, Young-Williams said on social media.
