The new Yolanda Saldivar documentary consists of two episodes, both of which will air on Oxygen and stream online through Peacock. Both episodes are approximately 80-90 minutes long.
In addition to interviews with Saldivar (speaking from prison), the docuseries features interviews with the family of a former Selena fan club president, Corpus Christi police detectives who were at the scene of Selena's murder, the prosecutor who tried Saldivar, and Multiple journalists covered this story for both English and Spanish-language news outlets.
According to a release from Oxygen, “Saldivar has spoken at length about his working relationship and friendship with Selena, and she is not alone. It shows there was more to this tragedy than the public knows.” For the first time, Yolanda's family spoke about the two women and shared previously unpublished documents and recordings.”
On March 31, 1995, Selena was at the height of her fame when she was shot and killed by Saldivar after confronting a former nurse about embezzling money from her fan club. Saldívar was sentenced to life in prison in October 1995 with the possibility of parole within 30 years. The new documentary series will be released a year before Saldivar becomes eligible for parole.
