The Louisiana Tech baseball team dominated Northern Colorado in a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 3-2 in 12 innings in Game 1 at J.C. Love Field in Ruston, Louisiana.
In the bottom of the 12th inning, the Bulldogs scored an unearned run on an infield throwing error with the bases loaded. They won the second game 5-3.
With one out in a 2-on-2 game, Dalton Davis advanced to second base on a wild pitch from UNC relief pitcher Griffin Webb. Jorge Corona's single advanced Davis to third base, and Webb walked Adarius Myers to load the bases.
Davis scored the winning run on a throwing error by UNC third baseman Jackson Romero on a ball played by Thaxton Burch.
UNC led 2-0 after four innings. Jake King's single gave Romero the lead. Kai Wagner hit a triple on Craig Kenney's double play grounder.
Bears starting pitcher Dylan Smith pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit, three strikeouts, and two walks, giving up no runs.
In Game 1, King had two hits and one RBI, Kayden Wagner had two hits, and Kai Wagner and Romero each had one hit.
In Game 2, Louisiana Tech took a two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning.
UNC scored one run in the top of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, but the Bulldogs matched the Bears by scoring one run in the bottom half of each inning.
Bulldogs starter Turner Swistak pitched 4/3 innings, allowing three hits and two runs, with eight strikeouts and one walk, earning the win.
