Los Angeles County animal control officials plan to hold a low-cost spay/neuter clinic next week at the Palmdale Animal Shelter, which they say is one of the busiest shelters in the county. .
The clinic will be held Tuesday at the center at 38550 Sierra Highway, according to Los Angeles County Animal Control.
“Our animal shelters are overcrowded with pets waiting for loving families,” said County Supervisor Katherine Berger. “We sincerely hope that the community will embrace and utilize the clinic's services. As pet owners, it is our responsibility to ensure that no more dogs or cats end up in shelters. Spaying and neutering is the best way to ensure that more animals are homeless. It is one of the most loving things we can do for our pets.”
Pet owners must apply for a spay/neuter voucher at their county shelter or the department's website, or contact SpayNeuterProgram@animalcare.lacounty.gov for more information.
County shelter officials believe Berger recently allocated $100,000 from her office to alleviate the overpopulation of pets due to critical surgeries.
“We recognize the urgent need to address the root causes of pet overpopulation,” said DACC Director Marcia Maeda. “Thanks to Superintendent Kathryn Berger’s generous support, we are able to take proactive steps to reduce the burden on our care centers and ensure a bright future for animals in the Antelope Valley and throughout Los Angeles County. Ta.”
DACC regularly hosts low-cost spay/neuter events at our seven care centers.
