Catkill, N.Y. – The Greene County Bank has been officially designated as part of the New York State Register of Historic Places.
Sen. Michelle Hinchey (D-Saugerties) sponsored the nomination.
The recognition was established by the state Legislature in 2020 to honor and promote New York businesses that have been in operation for at least 50 years and have made significant contributions to the history of their communities, Hinchey's office said.
“Greene County Bank is the epitome of a community-focused partner,” Hinchey said in a press release. “During our impressive 135-year history, our bank has not only withstood the test of time, but we have continually adapted to meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
Donald Gibson, president and CEO of Greene County Bank, said the bank is looking forward to celebrating its anniversary.
“We celebrated our 135th anniversary, rang the Nasdaq closing bell on January 22nd, increased interest rates on electronic checking and savings accounts, and were added to the New York State Register of Historic Businesses Preservation.”Gibson he said. In a statement.
