The need for mental health and addiction services has never been greater.
That's why Kaiser Permanente supports Proposition 1, California's March ballot measure.
Proposition 1 would invest billions of dollars to expand and strengthen the state's mental health system.
It will also modernize and transform the state's health care system by:
- Build desperately needed housing for people with mental illness and substance use disorders
- Adding more capacity for mental health care and drug and alcohol treatment
- Developing a diverse and well-trained workforce to provide mental health care and addiction services
“We believe that physical, social and mental health are essential to a person's overall health. That's why Kaiser Permanente has made a significant investment in behavioral health.” said Greg A. Adams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kaiser Permanente. “Proposition 1 represents a huge opportunity for Californians. We are taking bold and necessary steps to ensure our state moves toward becoming a place where care is available to all Californians who need it. You can vote to take action.”
Impact of Proposition 1
Proposition 1 would expand mental health and addiction services to tens of thousands of Californians each year.
It also:
- Provide housing for over 11,000 people with severe mental health needs
- Introduced 26,700 additional slots for outpatient treatment
- Allocates $1 billion to assist veterans with homelessness, mental illness, and addictions
California voters have begun receiving ballots by mail and have until March 5 to cast their ballots.
