On Saturday, App State Tennis lost to Virginia Tech, 5-2.
Sophomore Savannah Dada Mascoll and graduate student Maggie Pate managed to secure two wins for the Mountaineers (2-2).
Pate won the Hokies' match against Ozlem Uslu on Court 2 by a score of 6-4, 5-7, (10-8) in a tiebreaker and is now 7-0 in single play.
Dada Maskol won his first singles match of the season on Court 1. After dropping the first set 6-2, Dada Mascoll from Yorkshire won the second set 6-3. Dada Mascoll's momentum carried through to the decisive tie-break, where she defeated Katie Andreini by a 10-4 margin.
Virginia Tech won the singles match on Court 3-6, moving to 4-2 on the season.
The Black and Gold dropped doubles points early as the Hokies dominated all three courts.
The Mountaineers will travel to Boiling Springs to take on Gardner-Webb on Sunday, February 18th. Game start time is set for 1 p.m. This will be the second of a four-game road stint for the Mountaineers, who will then travel to ETSU on Feb. 20, Elon on Feb. 25 and return to High County on March 1.
