Four residents and eight pets were evacuated after a fire broke out at a single-family home in Chula Vista on Saturday, authorities said.
According to the Chula Vista Fire Department, crews were called to the 180 block of East Naples Street for a house fire around 4:20 a.m. Saturday.
Officials said the home's residents waited outside and crews extinguished the fire before it spread, limiting the fire to a vehicle in the driveway and part of the garage.
One resident suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene and quickly released, police told City News Service. No other residents, pets or fire personnel were injured.
The American Red Cross and the Civilian Adversity Assistance Team were called to the scene to provide additional assistance needed by residents.
No damage was reported other than smoke entering the home. Fire officials said it was unclear whether residents would be able to return to their homes after the smoke cleared or whether they would have to temporarily relocate.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
