This position is for a term from February to June 2024. This position provides leadership for the County's audit, budget, and general financial activities under the general direction of the County Administrator.
In the interim, work schedules may include both in-person and virtual (remote) work.
The following projects and assignments will occur during this interim period:
- Preparing for the 2022-2023 audit
- General management responsibilities
- Internal controls and approvals
- Supervise highly experienced and capable finance department employees (AP accounting, payroll accounting, general accounting)
The county employs 489 FTEs and has an adopted budget of $184 million for 2023-2024, of which $51 million is in the general fund. County departments include County Administration, General Counsel, Finance and Accounting, Health and Human Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, Juvenile, Parole and Probation, Planning and Development, Public Works, Surveyor's Office, Transportation, and Veterans Services. Elected county positions include assessor, commissioner, county clerk, district attorney, sheriff, and treasurer. The County has a strong management team of elected officials and department heads who work closely with the Director of Finance.
The Finance Department operates with 7.75 FTEs, including a Director, Assistant Director, 2 Accounting Analysts, 3 Accounting Technicians, and 0.75 Postal Clerks. This department provides excellent service to internal and external customers on all financial matters.
The Director of Finance, under the general direction of the County Administrator, Board of Commissioners, Budget Committee, and Future Board of Supervisors, is responsible for managing county finances, including the budget, annual audit, payroll, accounting, grant management, and postal administration. Manage management programs. room activities. The Director also provides guidance on the topics listed above to elected officials, department directors, managers, supervisors, and employees.
