SMITHFIELD, Va. — Smithfield Foods has appointed Brendan Smith as chief marketing officer and Alison Boldon as chief ethics and compliance officer.
Mr. Smith is a senior marketing executive with expertise in global and domestic sales, top consumer brand management, strategic development and planning, brand strategy, and digital marketing and will serve as Smithfield's chief marketing officer. In this role, he leads Smithfield's marketing team, including retail, deli and food services.He is responsible for the company's brands across channels and is responsible for the company's marketing, advertising, innovation and strategic planning efforts. Plan, develop, and execute. He reports to Steve France, president of Smithfield's packaged meat division.

Smith's marketing experience includes senior leadership roles at international food and beverage companies. His most recent role was as Chief Marketing Officer for New Realm Brewing and Distilling, where he built a marketing department to support retail, on-premises restaurant growth, and food, beverage and spirits innovation. His previous positions include Vice President of Marketing for Pizza Hut, where he led the marketing team and developed the company's brand strategy. He is the Senior Vice President of International Marketing for Monster Energy Company and part of the Monster family.He directs all marketing strategies for the brand. He is also vice president of sales and marketing for Southern Tier Brewing Company, where he develops strategy and directs all tactical execution of the company's sales and marketing programs. Prior to these roles, he served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Smithfield Foods and its Smithfield, Farmland, Gwaltney and Cook's brands, where he led national marketing, research and development, and innovation efforts. I led and directed everything. He began his career at Anheuser-Busch, where he held leadership positions of increasing responsibility.
He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio.
Alison Boldon, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer
Mr. Boldon is a senior leader with extensive global regulatory and legal compliance experience in the agriculture, consumer products, food manufacturing, packaging and retail sectors and will serve as Smithfield's Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. In this role, she will lead and manage Smithfield's Ethics and Compliance program and maintain a culture of integrity and ethical decision-making throughout the company. She will report to Michael Fleming, Smithfield's chief legal officer.

Boldon previously served as Managing Counsel for Wolters Kluwer, supporting compliance programs for its North American operations, and as Acting Chief Compliance Officer for Bright Machines, Inc. Prior to these positions, he served as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of Michael's Stores. , where she managed global supplier compliance. She also serves as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of Chiquita Brands International, Inc., where she develops and executes the company's global compliance strategy. Her other roles include Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of Tegrant Corporation, and she is Americas Counsel for Wm. Wrigley's Junior Company provides legal, compliance, privacy, and corporate secretarial support to more than 30 subsidiary companies.
Mr. Boldon received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his BA from Dartmouth College. She has been a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation since 2009.
