New York, NY — NYC Health + Hospitals today released the third episode of its new podcast, “The Remedy,” featuring leaders and health care providers from the nation’s largest municipal health system. Episode 3: Preparing for the next pandemic examines how New York City's public hospital system has consistently responded to the challenges of Ebola, COVID-19, and Mpox, staying ahead of the latest health crises.Host Dr. Michael Shen is joined by NYC Health + Hospitals physicians Dr. Shira MadaSenior Director of Systemwide Specialty Pathogens Programs, and Dr. Richard James Salway, Senior Director of Crisis Management. Together, they discuss how NYC Health + Hospitals is preparing for the next pandemic and keeping New Yorkers safe and healthy. Michael S. Shen, MD, is a primary care physician at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull and clinical director of Woodhull's Primary Care Safety Net Clinic for People Experiencing Homelessness. Dr. Shen was recently selected as a Health Affairs Podcast Fellow and created his three-episode series on Safety His Net Hospital. He is also an artist working in watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and digital media.
