We are thrilled to announce that Meaghan Tobin will be joining the Business Desk as Asia Technology Correspondent.
Meghan came to us from the Washington Post, where she wrote about China's growing influence from Taipei. Previously, she was a reporter at the nonprofit technology media startup Rest of World and The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, where she covered news in the Asia-Pacific region. .
She will be based in Taipei and will co-star with Chris Buckley, Paul Mosur and Amy Chan Chien. Meghan spent five years traveling between Taiwan, Hong Kong and China as a student, and she now works as a journalist.
Although Meghan's reporting focuses on China, her story and curiosity allow her to connect thematic dots to other parts of Asia, Europe, and the United States. She joins editors on the international desk, including Rich Barbieri in Seoul, San Francisco-based Pui Wing Tam and his technology group, and China Editor-in-Chief Jillian Wong, as well as editors in Seoul and across Asia. You'll be working with other Times reporters every day. By Doug Scholzman, Asia Editor.
Megan is a graduate of New York University and Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She expects it to be her lifelong journey of learning Chinese, and this year will be her 10th year. Meghan loves cooking with friends, she used to work as a pastry chef, and she can still be seen sometimes fermenting brioche to meet deadlines.
We look forward to having her join our team.
