BUFFALO, N.Y. — Drivers in Western New York are expected to see prices gradually rise after falling last month.
The average price for Buffalo is $3.33 per gallon, 3 cents lower than last week, according to AAA.
New York's average was $3.28, up 2 cents from a week ago. Meanwhile, the national average price rose 4 cents to $3.15 per gallon.
Gas prices in WNY as reported by AAA Western and Central New York are:
- Buffalo – $3.33 (down 3 cents from last Monday)
- Elmira – $3.06 (up 2 cents from last Monday)
- Ithaca – $3.21 (up 1 cent from last Monday)
- Rochester – $3.26 (no change from last Monday)
- Rome – $3.34 (up 7 cents from last Monday)
- Syracuse – $3.24 (up 1 cent from last Monday)
- Watertown – $3.18 (up 3 cents from last Monday)
AAA says gas prices will rise due to normal seasonal price increases and increased consumer demand for gas. Barring a major shock to the global oil market, they say, pump prices will begin to rise steadily around this time each year, eventually peaking around July.
Crude oil and diesel prices have also started to fluctuate this week. Crude oil prices ranged from $72 to $78 per barrel, down $6 from last week. The national average price for diesel was $3.93, up 2 cents from a week ago. Meanwhile, the average price in New York is down 1 cent, but still higher than the national average of $4.39.
