1. House Republicans voted early Wednesday to bring forward articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, moving them closer to impeaching a Cabinet member. The move would set up a vote on the provision by the full House, but a voting date has not yet been set.
2. The NFL may have realized its mistake in making Usher the headliner for this year's Super Bowl halftime show. According to reports, the league is spending a lot of money on Taylor Swift to appear on Usher's show. Taylor apparently didn't read the script, as he turned down all offers.
3. Be the first to start planning your Florida trip for 2025. Scheduled to open in 2025, NBCUniversal's newest Florida-based theme park will feature five immersive games, including the movie monster-inspired Dark Universe and the previously announced Super His Nintendo World. Includes mold land.
4. Ann atmospheric river It is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds along the West Coast this week, impacting millions of Americans. This weather system, known as the “Pineapple Express” because it originates near Hawaii, stretches for 3,000 miles. While California is bracing for 8+ inches of rain, up to 2 inches or more of rain is expected here in Kansas this weekend.
5. Tampa residents have complained of noise in certain neighborhoods because they hear what sounds like blaring bass all the time. Oddly enough, there was no party going on at that time. As it turns out, drumfish could be the culprit. Popular in waters around Tampa, this fish makes a deep bass sound at night, a type of “bass drum booty call.” Yes, even fish know about bass!
