Peterson's Upland Farm in Wahiawa has announced it is closing after 114 years in business.
In a social media post over the weekend, the multi-generational family-owned farm announced it would scale back its poultry operations and egg sales in the coming months.
“We appreciate the community's support,” the farm said in a post. “We would like to thank our many loyal customers, whom we have known for generations. We also want to thank our family for providing farm fresh, high quality eggs. I would also like to thank the dedicated employees who have worked with me.”
The company said new farm hours will be established during the transition period and updated on its website and Facebook page.
“At Peterson Ohana, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve our customers,” the post reads. “As always, we encourage you to support other local farms.”
The company posted the message “A Hui Hou” on its website and said it was cutting back on egg sales “in preparation for retirement.”
The company said it expects eggs to be available until February. Supplies of fertilizer, T-shirts, mugs and tote bags from the farm should be available to him from February onwards.
Peterson's Upland Farm, located at 141 Dole Street, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
