Sponsored by the Virginia Tech Sustainable Transportation Initiative, International Winter Bicycle Commuting Day is a globally celebrated holiday that encourages people around the world to commute to work by bike instead of a typical car. We highlight the many transportation options available to you at Virginia Tech.
Stop by the Hokie Bike Hub on Level 1 of the Perry Street Parking Garage on February 9th from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. to warm up for cold weather cycling. Our Pit Stop is stocked with bagels and cream cheese, coffee, Hokie winter bike commuter stickers, and other exciting goodies. Get a free Heads Up Hokies beanie when you complete the 2024 Virginia Tech Transportation Survey. Helmets rated five stars by the VT Helmet Lab will also be given to students in need, courtesy of the Gregory Weiner Foundation.
Sustainable Transportation is also using this day to remind people of 10 ways Hokie cyclists can best prepare for winter biking. Learn about bike care, rider tips, and important precautions on the road. You can also get valuable information about transportation options.
