Financial expert and former Ondo State Treasurer Wale Akinterinwa has revealed that late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu anointed him as his successor during his lifetime.
This came as Akinterinwa, a leading All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, vowed to defeat the current governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in the APC primaries.

But speaking on state television over the weekend, he revealed how his former boss anointed him as his successor after he returned from a medical trip to Germany in 2023.
“During a discussion in his office, he expressed his desire for me to take over, and he prayed for me. He had also expressed that desire to certain people. I know. This conversation happened right after he returned from Germany.
“At the appropriate time, I will make my intentions clear. I am sure I will get the ticket. People are with me,” he added.
Similarly, Mr Akinterinwa, who worked at the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) as Special Assistant on Finance, Investments and Strategy to the Managing Director from 1999 to 2002, was welcomed by his supporters in Akure, the state capital, at the weekend.
