San Diego Humane Society officers and emergency response teams are patrolling flood-affected areas, rescuing stranded animals and providing assistance to those in need.
Their efforts include going door to door in Southcrest, Mountain View, Logan Heights and Shelltown, providing food and supplies to dozens of pet families.
On Friday, emergency teams focused specifically on Acacia Avenue between Beta Street and South 39th Street.
If your pet is missing or was left behind during the evacuation, call a Humane Society dispatcher at 619-299-7012 (press 1).
Since Monday, the Humane Society has also partnered with the American Red Cross to operate a temporary shelter for pets at Lincoln High School, 4777 Imperial Avenue.
The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day and provides pet food, limited supplies, temporary shelter for displaced pets, and additional resources. There are currently 17 shelter pets being cared for at Lincoln High School, including nine dogs, seven birds and one rabbit.

Also, the Humane Society is all about volunteers and donations.
The agency is looking for foster homes to keep more pets in their homes until they can be reunited with their families. The Humane Society is also experiencing an increased need for dog food, leashes, collars, and slip leads. Donate through our online wishlist.
