TripAdvisor has announced the first Travelers' Choice Awards of the new year. We offer seven destination categories to inspire any vacation planning, whether you're a foodie, culture lover or romantic.
The travel scene is recovering, with 81% of Americans planning a trip this year, 45% planning three or more vacations in 2024, and 46% going abroad, according to researchers at the travel planning site. He says he's heading there. (Now we're trying to square these statistics with the Pew Research Center finding that 46% of Americans don't use all their paid vacation time. That means half of the population plans (6 vacations in 2024?)
The travel site's best-of-the-best list includes Top Destinations, the places travelers return to again and again, as well as trends, culture, food, nature, and new this year, honeymoons and sustainable destinations. Contains ground. The most popular cities for returning travelers are New York City, Oahu, and Las Vegas, with New Orleans coming in at No. 4 and Miami Beach at No. 5.
It is the trending destinations that offer more surprises, measured by the increase in traveler interest over the past year. Asian countries earned eight of his 10 spots on the world list, while U.S. destinations included everything from wine country meccas to the great outdoors.
