Medizet Tesholm, M.D, fax, MPH, has been appointed Chief of Breast Surgery and Director of Breast Health at UCLA Health.
“Dr. evident in their dedication to their relentless pursuit.” Joe Hines medical doctor, David Geffen, chair of surgery and professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, and chair and chief of surgery at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, said in a press release.
Teshome, a breast surgical oncologist, previously served as an associate professor in the department of breast surgical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She also served as Program Director for the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program and Professional Ambassador for the Department of Surgery.
During her time at MD Anderson, she received the Breast Surgery Excellence in Research Mentorship Award and the Outstanding GME Program Director Award. She was also a recipient of the Faculty Excellence Award for Advancement in Teaching and Mentorship.
Teshome has presented and published on topics including breast cancer-related lymphedema, preoperative systemic therapy for locally advanced breast cancer, and the impact of the early COVID-19 pandemic on breast surgical oncology fellow education.
